High FSH Levels
Mrs C came to the clinic in 2005 with some concern relating to FSH levels tested by her clinic. The reading were high at 15 and at aged 37 she felt concerned that she had left things too late and that she would be unable to get her IVF treatment. Because tests such as Day 3 FSH is an indicator of egg quality and likely ovarian reserve she explained that she had began to feel extremely stressed and some what depressed, due to these results. Because she had to receive a further test for her FSH levels we were able to compare the test results. The results indicated a reduction in FSH levels over a 6 week period to 9. This was not an isolated case and we feel supports the usefulness of acupuncture in these situations. The treatments using acupuncture continued and the patient was able to have another IVF cycle, this proved to be a success.
Sore knees and a bit more!
A patient came into the clinic because she had sore knees, the problem had become worse and moved into the ankles. Treatment was slow but successful during the treatments we worked on other areas of health and well being. The 41 year old patient became pregnant after a few months and had a successful pregnancy.
Menopause and Acupuncture
Initially calling into the clinic with back pain a full consultation revealed that this patient had some early menopausal symptoms. These had been causing some distress for the patient and included hot flushes, night sweats, confusion and insomnia with fatigue. The periods had become irregular and scant with back ache being dull and constant throughout the day. Treatments were given over 3 months, at weekly intervals and the patients symptoms reduced with the patient experiencing only mild symptoms of warmth on occasion with her periods regulated. She continued acupuncture with a monthly treatment. One year later she felt extremely well had no periods and no menopausal symptoms she remains a periodic visitor to the clinic.
